THE FALL IS THE FIRE

THE FALL IS THE FIRE

In temptation

Seeking glory

The price to pay

Is the fall of man

I. Prometheus

He tore fire from the axle of the sun

and screamed to the chained race below:

“Behold, you are gods now!”

“Quod licuit Iovi, non licuit bovi.”

What was permitted to Jupiter was not permitted to the ox.

The eagle came at dawn.

Every day it eats, every night the liver grows again,

eternal reminder:

“Audaces fortuna iuvat, sed Deus non ridet.”

Fortune favors the bold; God does not laugh.

II. Faust

In the black study, blood still warm on parchment,

he signs and whispers the fatal line:

“Verweile doch, du bist so schön!”

Stay a while, you are so beautiful!

The devil smiles, the soul is weighed.

“Quid prodest homini si universum lucretur, animae vero suae detrimentum patiatur?”

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world yet forfeit his soul?

All the kingdoms glittered for one heartbeat,

then the abyss opened like a mouth.

III. The First Fall

Before all falls, the Morning Star:

“Non serviam.”

I will not serve.

He fell like lightning,

and half the heavens rained with him.

“Eritis sicut dii”, the serpent had promised.

You shall be as gods.

We2

We bit.

We still bite.

IV. Icarus

Wax melting, feathers scattering like snow,

“Nimium soli appropinquavit.”

He flew too close to the sun.

The sea keeps his name.

V. The Law Written in Fire

“Omnis qui se exaltat humiliabitur.”

Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled.

Yet listen:

in the exact center of the fall

a spark refuses to die.

Through chains, through pacts, through shattered wings,

the human animal keeps reaching upward.

“Audax omnia perpeti

gens humana ruit per vetitum nefas.”

The human race, daring to endure all things,

rushes headlong into every forbidden horror.

And still we rise.

Still we burn.

Still we reach,

because the fall itself is the fire

that teaches us how to fly again.

In temptation

Seeking glory

The price to pay

Is the fall of man

And the glory

is the fall

andPhoenix

“Finis coronat opus.”

The end crowns the work.

We fall.

We burn.

We rise.

Forever.
